GOLD FRANC (GF)
Gold Franc. A nominal currency used by CRS/CES to charge
the communication service used by SES's (1SDR=3,061 GF).

GPS/GNSS GPS = Global Positioning System.

GNSS = Global Navigational Satellite System.

Provides three-dimensional positioning, velocity and time
measuring information, available for civilianuse and
recognizedby IMO (see IMO), using satellites of the United
States.
GSM Global System for Mobile Communications

Half Duplex The ability of a communication channel to transmit data or
voice in either direction, but only one direction at the time.

HF High Frequency (4 to 30 Mhz)

Hidrostatic release mechanism
A system of releasing a piece of equipment when immersed
in water (for exemple a part of an automatic EPIRB).

Hz Hertz. (Frequency unit – Unidad de Frecuencia)

IA5 International Alphabet 5. A standard alphanumeric character
set, also known as ASCII, based on 7-bit codes. Suport upper
case, lower case and some special characters.

Inverter A means of generating a “mains” voltage from an emergency
source power such as an emergency battery. Used in

ISL Interstation Signalling Links. These signalling channels are
used between an NCS and the CES's in its Ocean Region to
pass system information around the system.

Isolator A device used to isolate the antenna.

ITA2 International Alphabet 2. A standard alphanumeric character
